Many homeowners want to modify their homes, personalizing a house or condo for their tastes and lifestyle. Yet the financial impact of these changes is difficult to measure with standard home evaluation services, and expensive to measure with a limited summary or full appraisal. Thanks to Larry's commitment to making information more readily available, VOL America helps you accurately estimate the present-and potential-value of your home without spending hundreds of dollars to do so.
Larry's plans for the future
Larry has over 35 years consulting experience in the real estate field. He is also a perceptive student of applied behavioral science (ABS). ABS is the study of systems and sub systems that interact within themselves and link to other systems. These self-organizing systems evolve by both internal and external feedback. ABS as a body of knowledge is constantly evolving and is more than just systems thinking. Yet at its core are the study and interaction of human and machine within systems. The field includes cultural anthropology, sociology, social psychology and philosophy, yet can be simply defined as "the art and science of getting things done through and with others." Systems theory can serve as a framework for understanding relationships between communities, organizations, groups and individuals with an emphasis on change.
Larry's studies and research in this field made him realize what the home value market is missing: We must determine how "personal preference" changes affect the value of real estate. Some home improvement projects are known to add value, like second bathrooms, but many homeowners modify their homes in individualistic ways that set their homes apart from others without knowing the impact on market value. Larry and VOL America are solving that problem by building a database that gives value to personal preferences. Upon completion, we'll be able to even more accurately project the financial impact of your home improvement decisions.
