Q: Why is there so much emphasis on "neighborhoods" when you're talking about value?
A: Location, location, location. It affects the value of a business and a home. To learn more, read about the impact your neighborhood can have on your home's potential value.
Q: Do you offer your reports to anyone, no matter where they live?
A: Right now, we only offer our service in Washington and Oregon. Keep in touch by signing up for The Dwelling Dispatch, however, and you'll know when our reports become available in your area too!
Q: What's the difference between your VOL Report, and the cheaper options I see on other Web sites?
A: We use our own software, and we give you values based on three different ranges. We also offer a Potential Home Value Report so you can make sound home improvement decisions by estimating if you'll get a decent return on any investments you make in your home.
Q: Tell me more about how you determine the financial impact of home improvements:
A: We first run a VOL Report to get your home's present value. Then we use cost analyzing data, information from federal departments and public sources, governmental estimates of rates of GDP together with GNP growth, and rates of appreciation from metropolitan statistical districts and the NAR (National Association of Realtors) to get detailed information about your neighborhood. Then we analyze all this information using a theory based on applied behavioral science.
Q: What do you mean by "personal preferences"?
A: Personal preferences are those modifications that you as the homeowner appreciate and enjoy, but that might not add market value. For example, you might spend $30,000 to beautify your yard, yet not get any return on that investment when you sell your home. To help you determine what will and won't increase your property value, we're building the nation's first Personal Preferences database. And you can help! Simply answer a few questions for our database, and we'll reward you with a free copy of our report: "The Four Forces that Affect Your Home's Value."
